Dog Park Updates, Bake Sale Saturday 6/1

posted May 29, 2019, 9:26 AM by Larissa Pyer
Dear dog park friends, we have several important and exciting announcements to share!

First, we have had some changes to the Board in recent weeks, and are thrilled to welcome Deb Shope as our new President and Jillian Beasley as Vice President! Deb lives in Enfield with her dog, Tucker, and Jillian is from Grantham and is owned by her dog, Sammy. Along with this, we would like to wish our Co-Founder and inaugural President, Marcia Herrin, well as she embarks on her next adventure - politics! Marcia has stepped down to pursue election to the Enfield Selectboard in 2020. We wish her the best of luck and extend a huge thank you to both Marcia and her husband, Alan Strickland, for all their time, effort, and dedication to establishing the dog park over the last six years. We also thank Marcy Innes, former Vice President, and her husband, Dan Pontbriand, who have been involved both as volunteers and on the Board over the last few years and whose efforts are visible at the park in the form of beautiful information kiosks. THANK YOU Marcia, Alan, Marcy, and Dan for your contributions to the dog park!

Second, don't forget about the Benefit Bake Sale this Saturday, June 1, 10am-2pm at the Lebanon Co-op Food StoreYou can help the dog park by making homemade goodies for (or coming and purchasing said goodies at!) our bake sale. We need a variety of homemade items – from individual brownies to whole pies to bread to cookies to dog treats to... you get the idea. All donations are appreciated! Donations may be dropped off at 9:30am the morning of June 1 in front of Dunkin Donuts in Enfield, or anytime after 10am at the entrance of the Lebanon Co-op. Unsold items may be picked up from the Co-op at 2pm, or they will be donated to David's House. Park Update - Springfield Fence has completed the repairs to our entry gates, and they look amazing! They are incredibly smooth to work, and we are also excited that things are finally starting to dry out in the parks. There are a couple finishing touches needed, but we hope to be open by early next week. We will send an email announcement once that happens, and will also post to Facebook and update our website.

Once the park is open, please note that, per order of the Enfield Selectboard the Shaker Field Dog Park will conduct a one year trial of allowing unaltered dogs in all park areas.
We recommend reviewing and referring to our Safety Protocol, which explains what types of occurrences should be reported, and what steps to follow in the event of an incident. Please be sure to use our incident report form (available in the park or online) or email us directly with any issues that you witness or are involved in. We also welcome feedback, questions, or comments regarding the trial, which we will aggregate and share with the Town Manager and Selectboard. You can contact us at mascomavalleydogpark@gmail.comTo ensure this trial goes as smoothly as possibly, once we open and the trial begins, we will be updating our community with suggested best practices and recommendations to help everyone adjust to this change.
Our 2019 Membership Drive is in full swing, and so far we have 49 members, putting us nearly halfway to our goal of 100! We are doing a raffle and will draw prize-winners when we reach 50, 75, and 100 members. Prizes include a dog hiking backpack, a small dog carrier backpack, and a set of Stephen Huneck Dog Prayer Flags. We need just 1 more member to reach the first goal of 50 memberships and draw for a prize!! All members are automatically entered to win, so what are you waiting for?! Best Regards,
Deb, Jillian, Jo, Larissa, and Paul
